“We knew that wasn't going to be easy,” Head Coach John Gruden said after the game. “Any time you're going back-to-back in games against a division rival it's not easy. We didn't do the little things right. They had a push right off the get go. We didn't start badly actually, I take that back. First five minutes managed it pretty well andthen we started playing a little four on four hockey and for whatever reason we lost momentum. We never got it on track. Little disappointing.”
Hirvonen’s goal extended a streak of four straight games that the Marlies have scored a power play goal.
The Marlies will be back in action on Wednesday against the Wilkes-Barre Scranton Penguins at Coca-Cola Coliseum. Puck drop is at 11:00 am on the Toronto Maple Leafs app or on AHLTV.

POSTGAME QUOTES
HEAD COACH JOHN GRUDEN
On today’s game:
We knew that it wasn't going to be easy. Any time you're going back-to-back in games against a division rival, it's not easy. We didn't do the little things right. They had a push right off the get go. We didn't start badly actually; I take that back. First five minutes managed it pretty well and then we started playing a little four-on-four hockey and for whatever reason we lost momentum. We never got it on track. Little disappointing. We didn't seize the opportunity. We just have to move on from it.
On what it’s going to take for the team to move forward:
We just have to keep showing them, let them understand, but it's a confidence thing. We're so close to being a really good team in this league, but so close to not. We have to look at ourselves in the mirror, all of us, coaches included. We’ve got to figure it out because we've got a good team in there. We don't want to just crumble everything, we want to make sure that we stay positive.
