Nick Abruzzese Named AHL Player Of The Week

The American Hockey League announced today that Toronto Marlies forward Nick Abruzzese has been selected as the Howies Hockey Tape / AHL Player of the Week for the period ending in November 12.

Abruzzese, 24, recorded two goals and five assists in Toronto’s last three games which included back-to-back three-point games this past weekend against the Grand Rapids Griffins. He recorded his first game-winning goal of the season on Nov. 10 in a 7-3 win over the Griffins. The Slate Hill, New York native is on a four-game point streak (2-6-8) extending from November 4. In 81 career AHL games, Abruzzese has 19 goals and 40 assists and was selected in the fourth round (124th overall) of the 2019 NHL Draft by the Toronto Maple Leafs.

The Toronto Marlies are the primary development program for the Toronto Maple Leafs. Since 2005, 148 players have appeared in regular season games at both the NHL and AHL levels. The current Maple Leafs roster features eight players who have dressed for both the Maple Leafs and Marlies – Simon Benoit, William Lagesson, Timothy Liljegren, Bobby McMann, William Nylander, Morgan Rielly, Nicholas Robertson and Joseph Woll.
