The Toronto Marlies announced Thursday that the team has signed goaltender Cal Heeter to a one year American Hockey League contract.
Heeter, 28, split last season between the Grand Rapids Griffins and the Toledo Walleye (ECHL). He posted 10 wins with the Griffins last season, with a .933 save percentage (SV%) and 2.07 goals against average (GAA) in 12 appearances. He also appeared in 17 games with the Walleye, earning 14 wins and posting a 2.99 GAA and 0.897 SV%.
Signed by the Philadelphia Flyers following a four-year NCAA career with the Ohio State Buckeyes, Heeter made his National Hockey League debut with the Flyers on April 13, 2014.
Heeter has a career 2.68 GAA and .914 SV% in 89 AHL appearances. 66 of those games were with the Adirondack Phantoms and he also played one game with the Marlies during the 2014-15 season, making 48 saves in an overtime loss.
