Marlies Face Rochester in Preseason Action This Weekend

It will be a quick preseason for the Marlies this weekend, with a pair of games scheduled against the Rochester Americans and a week until the regular season kicks off on October 7.

On Friday night, the Marlies travelled to the Gene Polisseni Center on the campus of RIT and fought hard in a close battle against the Amerks.

J.J. Piccinich and Adam Brooks each scored in the final five minutes for the Marlies, as they rallied back to force the game to overtime, but C.J. Smith was able to score the winner in the extra frame as the Marlies fell 3-2.

Cal Heeter started between the pipes for the Marlies, and stopped all 24 shots he faced before being replaced at the midway point of the second period. Matt Hackett made 14 saves in the second half and extra period.

The two teams are back at it Saturday night at 7:05 p.m. from the HarborCenter in Buffalo.

Tonight’s game will be streamed live online by the HarborCenter, and fans can tune in at 6:30 here:
