Kerby Rychel Named to the 2017 AHL All-Star Classic

The American Hockey League announced today that Kerby Rychel has been named to the playing roster for the 2017 AHL All-Star Classic presented by Capital BlueCross, to be held January 29-30 at PPL Center in Allentown, Pa., home of the Lehigh Valley Phantoms. Rychel will represent the North Division All-Star team. Both Kasperi Kapanen and Brendan Leipsic will be unavailable for the event due to injury.

Rychel, 22, has played in 38 games with the Marlies this season, registering 26 points (8 goals, 18 assists).  The Torrance, California native is currently riding a three game point streak, collecting seven assists in that span and has six goals and 17 points on the power play this season. Rychel was also selected to the 2016 AHL All-Star Classic but missed the event due to an NHL recall. In his third AHL season, Rychel has played in 126 games, recording 86 points (26 goals, 60 assists).

The Marlies hit the ice tonight in Rochester and then head to St. John’s, Newfoundland to cap off their six game road trip before the All-Star break.
