Andreas Johnsson Named CCM/AHL Player of the Week

The American Hockey League announced today that Toronto Marlies forward Andreas Johnsson has been selected as the CCM/AHL Player of the Week for the period ending February 4th.

Johnsson registered five points (2 goals, 3 assists) in Toronto’s two wins this weekend over the Rochester Americans and the Laval Rocket. Johnsson also represented the Toronto Marlies at the 2018 All-Star Game in Utica where his late game-winning goal in the final round-robin game led to the North Division capturing the All-Star Challenge championship. Johnsson has recorded 18 points (11 goals, 7 assists) in his last 16 games. He is second overall in the AHL with 22 goals and leads the Marlies with 37 points (22 goals, 15 assists) in 41 games this season.

The Toronto Marlies are the primary development program for the Toronto Maple Leafs. The current Toronto Maple Leafs roster features 13 players who were developed by the Marlies (Tyler Bozak, Connor Brown, Connor Carrick, Travis Dermott, Jake Gardiner, Zach Hyman, Nazem Kadri, Kasperi Kapanen, Leo Komarov, Josh Leivo, William Nylander, Morgan Rielly and Nikita Soshnikov).

The Toronto Marlies head to Belleville on Friday to face off against the Senators on Friday at 7:00 p.m. ET and return to Ricoh for back-to-back games against the Binghamton Devils Saturday and Sunday at 4:00 p.m. ET.
