As summer continues on, the Marlies have remained busy over the past two weeks, signing two forwards and three defencemen ahead of the upcoming season.
On the blueline, the Marlies signed Michael Paliotta, Matias Cleland and Alex Gudbranson. Paliotta, 24, comes to Toronto from the Atlantic Division, playing the 2016-17 season with the Hartford Wolf Pack. Paliotta scored 14 points (1 G, 13 A) in 52 games with the Wolf Pack, and has 37 points (9 G, 28 A) in 120 career AHL games.
Gudbranson, 23, will return to Toronto on a two-way AHL-ECHL deal. He was loaned to the Marlies from the Minnesota Wild organization last February. He dressed in four games with the Marlies during the 2016-17 season. The 23-year-old defenceman from Orleans, Ontario has appeared in 50 career AHL games, including 46 with the Iowa Wild.
Cleland, 23, is a graduate of the University of New Hampshire and joins the Marlies on a two-way AHL deal. Cleland, 23, finished his college career last season as captain of the Wildcats, and recorded 36 points (3 G, 33 A) in 40 games.
Up front, the Marlies signed Joshua Winquist and Kristian Pospisil to two-way contracts.
Winquist, 23, joins the Marlies on a two-way contract following a strong year with the Atlantic Division’s Bridgeport Sound Tigers. He recorded 32 points (15 G, 17 A) in 53 games with Bridgeport and has has 81 points in 135 career AHL games.
Pospisil, 21, joins the Marlies after spending the 2016-17 season with the USHL’s Sioux City Musketeers, scoring 15 goals and 40 points in just 48 games. Pospisil played the previous year with the Blainsville-Boisbrand Armada of the QMJHL, where he scored 25 goals and 40 points in his first season playing in North America.
